Luciferase
Lentiviruses expressing 61kDa F-Luc protein (Firefly luciferase) and 36kDa R-Luc protein (Renilla luciferase) can be used in dual-reporter assays due to the differences in substrate requirements and light emission spectrum. F-Luc produces light in the presence luciferin, oxygen, ATP and magnesium, while R-Luc requires only coelenterazine and oxygen. F-Luc generates a greenish yellow light in the 550–570nm range, while R-Luc produces a blue light of 480nm.
