Xenograft Service

Overview

Xenograft models (Living Tumor™ ) are developed using human tumor tissues grafted in subrenal capsules of SCID mice. The human tumor tissues are developed into transplantable tumor tissue lines. These tumor tissue lines offer a sustainable tumor source for xenograft models. The model is in many aspects superior to conventional tumor model systems which are based on cultured cancer cell lines.

Features:

  • Resemblance to human tumor: At the subrenal capsule graft site, the Living Tumor™ tissue lines retain the cell heterogeneity of the original human cancer and better retain original drug sensitivities, genotype and phenotype.
  • Predictable metastasis: Living Tumor™ tissue lines metastasize predictably and retain the original human tumor phenotype.
  • Wide spectrum of tumor stages: Living Tumor™ tissue lines represent different cancer types and a wide spectrum of early to late stage cancers.

Applications:

  • Tumor growth inhibition studies
  • Orthotopic models for tumor metastatic studies
  • Tumor models for classes of therapeutic agents
  • Maximum tolerated dose, acute and subacute toxicity
  • Histopathology, Immunohistochemistry, In Situ Hybridization and qRT-PCR analysis

Tumor lines will be established from the fresh tumor tissues provided by customers or tissues procured by us under customers' request. Successful generation of a new grafted tumor line takes about 6-10 months. DNA/RNA/Protein lysate/Tissue Sections of the custom made tumor lines are being offered separately.
